Denver Colorado is in the middle of a population boom with the city’s population approaching 700,000. The US Census bureau said that Denver alone added 13,028 people last year. In addition to people moving into Denver proper, there is wild growth in the outlying neighborhoods around Denver.
As of April 20, 2017, Stapleton had 425 affordable homes completed or under construction.
There is more demand than can be met. And that is why you need to act, and fast! The Denver Post reports:
“The latest projections show that Stapleton will have 881 affordable for-sale homes and 8,807 market-rate homes at full build out, something that’s expected to happen within the next three to four years, said Tom Gleason, vice president of public relations for Forest City Stapleton.”
There are requirements around how to get approved for affordable housing in Stapleton. Income qualifications and you must also be able to qualify for a mortgage with the lender’s requirements for income and debt ratios.
In March, we communicated with Tom Gleason and he sent an email about the progress of new affordable housing in Stapleton. He said in his email, “We are in discussions with a potential nonprofit developer of affordable rental housing for the southwest quadrant of the intersection of Northfield Boulevard and Central Park Boulevard, but it is too early in those discussions to provide additional information.”
So, the good news is that Stapleton is going to keep working toward its goals, the bad news is the demand is still far and away greater than the homes that will be available.
